These are the last outfit photos I took before I dyed my hair blue!

This was for a date day I had during my anniversary week off.  We went for tea and to stock up on our favourite cream earl grey, as well as for ice cream and the items for a Parisien picnic.  I meant to get photos of it all, but we were having fun and it was blisteringly hot out so I completely forgot to document the rest of the day.  Though I did post a photo on instagram of the picnic, which ended up being inside our shady place as opposed to the garden, which was just far too warm.

It can be daunting trying to find someone to look up to as a plus size girl wanting to explore fashion.  Luckily, the plus size fashion blogging community is flourishing!  There has never been so many stylish women to look up to and so accessible through social media!

One of the biggest steps towards self love and embracing yourself is to seek out and find beauty in people of varying sizes and styles.  The more you surround yourself with diversity, the more beauty you find! Being visible to other women is important as it can positively affect how they see themselves and give them the encouragement to go out and do their own thing!

As plus size bloggers, we are already a niche within the fashion community, but being alternative can place us in niches within our niche!

I’d like to create a positive and embracing hashtag to include all the beautiful and positive examples of alternative plus size fashion!  There are so many different styles within alternative culture and MANY women looking for role models and style gurus to help them find clothing that suits their unique style and unique bodies or to just see other women in positive ways that are like them in media.

I’d like to make the alternative girls more visible and accessible through the use of #alternativecurves on any social media.  A one stop hashtag to find other alternative girls where we can take inspiration from and solace knowing we are out there and we are fierce!

This week, in lieu of my normal {friday i’m in love} I am joining a amazingly fun group of bloggers and participating in a fun challenge! (this helps as I have been away for the week and not seen any outfits to post)

The challenge is to recreate the look of a Style Icon!  At first I toyed with ideas are Marlene Dietrich, but I just don’t have the proper pant suits I’d like in order to portray her, so my mind pondered and Anna Piaggi floated to the top pretty quick!

I have always been a HUGE fan of the a particular part of the fashion elite known as the eccentrics!  I adore their wild abandon when it comes to fashion and love how many of them act as muses for talented designers.  For them, fashion is truly a way of life and everyday is a work of art!

I recreated 3 looks by her and had an absolute blast playing with the theatrical make up, whimsical accessories and textures in the items she choose.

I admire her gusto and zest for eccentricity!

This weeks participants in the Style Icon Challenge are:

//  Michelle from Zaftigtimes

//  Aarti from Curves Become Her

//  Zadry from Curves à la Mode

// Veronica from Cid Style File

This was a lot of fun to do, though extremely hot!  Summer plus hat & fur & layers is a crazy mix!!

I cannot wait to see what each lady did!  I’m so happy to have the chance to participate!

july wishlist // urbanog shoes

urbanog shoes // wishlist // margot meanie

// Kitty Embroidered Loafer in black or gold

// Breckelle Gina-21 Strappy Almond Toe Ankle Bootie in soft peach

//Bamboo Becca Sandal Platform Wedge in black

// Popi-3 Leatherette Buckle Cut Out Open Toe Chunky Heel in black

// Wild Diva Lounge Elfi-04 Open Toe Wedge Bootie in black

// Breckelle Bahama-11 Mesh Strappy Open Toe Bootie in black

// Qupid Tuxedo-24 Cut Out Lace Up Almond Toe Oxford Flat in camel

// Vibe Two Tone Ankle Strap Open Toe Heel in white or metallic black

If I had the budget, I could easily turn into one of those girls with a “shoe problem”  though  I would never see it as a problem, as you’d always have the shoes you wish you had for each outfit variation!

I’m really digging all the big chunky shoes lately.  They totally remind me of the nineties, though a tad more chic.  I’m also falling for other styles, which I never thought I’d go for, like strappy heels, kinda ugly yet cool booties or tobacco colour flats.

It’s a whole new world of fashion I’ve opened myself up to and I’m LOVING every minute of it….even more so if I could own them all!

These are my top picks after perusing around urbanog’s MASSIVE shoe selection.  They are all fast fashion finds, which means they are cheap cheap cheap, making it a lot easier to own all the trendy shoes you’re currently coveting.  Seriously, the most expensive pair here is $40 the cheapest is $15!!  You definitely need to hunt through, as they have some gawd awful footwear in there and some strange and fascinating {almost of the verge of avant garde, if matched with the right outfit}  items as well, but I have no doubt you’ll find some shoes that appeal to your tastes!

Of course the quality may not last through multiple seasons, but I’m usually ok with that, as I never have the funds to invest in high quality shoes, especially on a collection.  But since most of them are heels and wouldn’t be getting tones and tonnes of everyday wear, i think they’d last until next year at least!

forever 21+ wishlist // margot meanie

This wishlist is a BIG one!!  Since I’m not currently working, my spending budget has been nil and it’s kind of been killing me a little bit.   This is generally a time of year that I’m refreshing my summer wardrobe and bringing in some sorely needed new pieces {like swimsuits!!} but alas, I am stuck drooling at the {online} window.

If I had money right now, these would all be one their way to me already!

top row left to right

// Heart-Shaped Sunglasses

// Retro Cat-Eye Sunglasses

// F2009 Half-Frame Sunglasses

I have a thing for sunnies and I especially have a thing for cat eye & heart shaped sunnies!  I like to keep a collection as they all work so wonderfully with different outfits and I find they can really change the tone of a look.

2nd row left to right

// Poetic Dream Crochet Blouse

// Dynamite Sheer Gathered Top

// Raglan Crop Top

I kinda really need some new tops, some of mine are beginning to look a bit shabby.  The navy blouse is super cute, especially with it’s crocheted yolk.  The breezy, sheer, gathered top would work well with tonnes of items I have, not to mention as a great cover up for the swim suits and I’d love to get a nice basic black crop for a lot of everyday looks.

3rd row left to right

// Classic Straw Boater

// Chic Open-Knit Bowler Hat

I’ve been craving a natural straw boater hat for a few months now, this one is perfect and cheap!  I’m always on the look out for cute bowlers as well, I like this one in straw, so it’s not too hot to wear in the summer heat.

4th row left to right

// Nouveau Deco Bodycon Dress

// Retro Dot Surplice Romper

//Mesh-Trimmed Bodycon Dress

I’ve been aching for the deco & mesh trimmed bodycon dresses for a while now, especially after seeing them both on fellow bloggers.  They’re fabulous for evening occasions & the playsuit is perfect for day!

5th row left to right

// Geo Faux Leather Cuff

// Subtle Geo Midi Rings

// Cutout Crescent Necklace

I love the gold & faux leather cuff, as I generally love geometric patterns, especially in jewelry, but I also already have the matching earrings! I really like the simple shapes on this set of midi rings and that bib necklace is AWESOME!

6th row left to right

// Goddess Cutout Swimsuit

// Polka Dot Bow Shorts

// Midnight Mesh Swimsuit

Last but not least for summer, swimsuits and shorts!!  I am severely lacking in both as of right meow.  I really love all the fatkini’s going around, but for myself, personally, I still like a one piece and these two black numbers are right up my alley!!  They’re both classy, but each have a special feature on each one.  I also like black swimsuits {or darker, solid colours} as they’re a bit mysterious and sexy as well!  And, how CUTE are these shorts?!!  Polka dots…bows…high waisted…I want them so BAD!!!

“Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.”  -Coco Chanel

“Women think of all colors except the absence of color. I have said that black has it all. White too. Their beauty is absolute.  It is the perfect harmony.”  -Coco Chanel

Today’s outfit is 100% inspired by the first lady of style, Coco Chanel.  Though I sadly, do not own a single Chanel piece I have often taken my cues from Chanel.

I grew up watching Fashion Television, which had a huge impact on me.  I love the art that comes with design and styling.  I think growing up and constantly looking at high fashion has trickled down into how I now dress, even on my low budget fashion level.

This look is simple, but I adhered to Coco’s famous advice and took off an item before shooting  today’s look.   I also find much comfort in black & white outfits.  I think they can speak so loudly, even with the absence of a bright colour.

I am unabashedly, a HUG Harry Potter nerd!!

In fact, such a Potterphile, that my very first blog post on here about 10 months go was a about a Harry Potter party that I hosted and went full tilt on! {please excuse how long winded it is, it was my first time back to blogging for seven or so years!! oh and I first named this blog Miss Meanie goes to Paris, which was equally long winded, so I changed that pretty quick!}

I have a huge collection of cool HP bric-à-brac, most of which I brought back last year after visiting the most magical place on earth, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter! We have most of it out on display, but we really want to get  a better shelf to display all our curious & magical items.  The wands are still in their boxes and we’d really like to get a stand to display them more nicely.

It had occurred to me, that although I had mentioned purchasing this top back in March when I was down at ECCC, I had never actually taken any outfit shots with it!

It’s actually one of the staples in my wardrobe right now, on account of it being A) a crop top B) the most lightweight soft material ever C)being black & D) it’s wonderfully nerdy! I actually altered this a bit.  I took the straps up, as I hate big gaping armholes that show off my bra, which also made it a shorter crop top, which worked well for me!

//what i wore//

I wouldn’t normally wear the kitty ears out with this outfit, but I was in a fun mood.  It also occurred to me, that I never smile in any of my photos, so that has been remedied in this post!

//deathly hallows crop – android sheep, they only have one size, but it fits pretty well, if just a tad snug which makes the lines look rippled

//pleated skater skirt & geometric cuff – forever21+

//skinny belt w/gold cross & suspender tights – ASOS curve, sadly these did not live as long as I had hoped.  The thinner nylon on the top is just full of runs {or ladders a they call them in the UK}

//shoes – thrifted

//moon pendant necklace – a gift from my mom & step dad.  The image is of the phase the moon was in when I was born!

Well, that is my witchpoo look!  You know, with it being Wednesday and the whole, on “Wednesday’s we wear black” that seems to be a new mantra of mine!

Are you a crazy potterphile too?  Or are you part of any other fandom??  I’m kind of a fangirl for a lot of fandoms! Let me know what you’re into!!
