Hey babes! I’m so excited to tell you about my own little challenge for this year. It’s all about me being HELL BENT on avoiding chub rub this summer. Every year I promise myself I’m going to try preventive measures in protecting my tender thighs and every year I fall short and end up on my old fall back of baby powder and antiperspirant.

It. Never. WORKS!

Every summer I end up with at least handful of terribly painful episodes where I was out and about on a warm, sunny day, letting my legs breathe and the chub rub starts. You know that feeling, when you notice it’s chafing a bit, but you’re like, it’s ok, it won’t get too bad. Then a little while later you’re like, ok, maybe I can stuff my skirt between my legs for a little bit and no one will notice, I’ll just walk a few paces behind everyone. Then you’re like HOLY HELL THIS IS THE WORST, I need to sit down and spread my legs. Are my thighs bleeding? I feel like they’re bleeding! I need some relief, I need a pool or a fan! Does anyone have some baby powder on them? No? Oh yeah riiight, most people don’t normally carry baby powder around with them. *groan*

The next two to three days following you’re left walking slightly bow legged, you only wish it was for the reasons people are chiding you for, but in all reality your thighs tried to skin each other and they are PISSED!

So this year I say NAY! I don’t wanna deal with it and I’m going to see if I can last 100 days of summer chafe free!

This all started with my chub rub shorts from Thigh Society, but I’m bulking up my arsenal with adding in MedZone’s anti chafing stick, ChafeZone*.  They got in touch with me after seeing all the hub bub around the chub rub short giveaway and realised, there are a helluva lotta babes out here needing some relief.

I’ve been using their product now for 2 weeks, that’s 14 days of my hopeful 100 and I gotta say, it’s been pretty keen so far! So, can I make it through the hottest, sweatiest, chub rubbiest months without suffering this year? And so far, I’m thinking the answer is gonna be YES!

My plan of attack is to come at it from multiple angles. I’ll be using my ChafeZone for days I don’t want my chub rub shorts getting in the way of a cute outfit, { hello mini skirts and swimsuits! } or you know, when they’re in the laundry.  So far, it’s been kinda perfect!

They kindly sent me a full size ChafeZone stick to try out, as well as a nice n’ small travel size stick that’s easy to keep in my purse, just in case I have to reapply. They also sent a travel size of their BlisterZone; I haven’t had any cause to use this one yet as I don’t have any blister inducing shoes in my closet currently, { guess it’s time for shoe shopping! } but I’m keeping that in my bag as well, just in case I notice any annoying and potential blister rubs.

And they threw in a couple trials of their PainZone and BurnZone as well! The BurnZone packets went straight into my camping kits as they are meant for mild burns, insect bites, scrapes and sunburns, which sounds all around awesome. The PainZone is like a deep muscle oil, meant to relieve muscle strain, aches and arthritis. I gotta admit, I tried some on my lower back when I was having some severe menstrual cramps and it felt soooo goooood! Like being in hot bath, but in my jammies, under a blanket, in front of the tv! *bliss*

So, let me tell you a little more about how I felt about the product. It’s smells fairly medicated, like peppermint and eucalyptus, which makes sense as those are two ingredients, but it’s not too strong. It goes on smooth and feels very glide-y at first, but it settles into your skin and just feels natural. My friend had mentioned some chub rub sticks she’s tried before that contained silicone and that they’d create tiny little abrasive balls { kinda counterproductive to it’s purpose, no?! }, that is not the case with these sticks. I don’t even see silicone as an ingredient, I was actually happy to see that aloe vera is actually the first ingredient though! I have found on really hot days or days where I am walking a LOT, I have had to reapply, which is not really a big deal, especially since as I mentioned, you can get these in little travel sizes to keep in a bag and they don’t take up too much space!

According to the packaging, you can also use this on other areas, like do you get rubbed from your bras? It’s good for that! Swimsuit is uncomfortable in spots? Try it there too! Riding your bike and getting saddle sores? It’s supposed to be the bees knees! It’s been pretty awesome so far for my own uses, but I’m looking forward to trying it on other areas to see how if it’s as great as it is for my thighs.

So, I’m 14 days into my own personal challenge, I’m going to keep you updated periodically with my progress.

    Last year I actually tried face primer on my thighs. Was definitely effective (for short periods), but maybe not super economical.

    i swear by the monistat anti chafing stuff! im about 200 pounds and 5’5 (just for ref im a “small” fat) and i love to go to raves wearing just a thong and a circle skirt which can create ~issues~ but i put it all over and it lasts on me for up to 8 hours of super sweaty chafing!!! idk if you have tried it but i love it! (i believe it has silicone in it though, which may be what your friend ran into issues with)

    I use Body Glide for chafing – I also just discovered shortlettes by Undersummers – they go up to a 4X and are great for under dresses and skirts. I was worried that they might be hot but I didn’t have any issues with them and I wear them in Houston where it’s been extremely hot.
