july wishlist // forever21+

forever 21+ wishlist // margot meanie

This wishlist is a BIG one!!  Since I’m not currently working, my spending budget has been nil and it’s kind of been killing me a little bit.   This is generally a time of year that I’m refreshing my summer wardrobe and bringing in some sorely needed new pieces {like swimsuits!!} but alas, I am stuck drooling at the {online} window.

If I had money right now, these would all be one their way to me already!

top row left to right

// Heart-Shaped Sunglasses

// Retro Cat-Eye Sunglasses

// F2009 Half-Frame Sunglasses

I have a thing for sunnies and I especially have a thing for cat eye & heart shaped sunnies!  I like to keep a collection as they all work so wonderfully with different outfits and I find they can really change the tone of a look.

2nd row left to right

// Poetic Dream Crochet Blouse

// Dynamite Sheer Gathered Top

// Raglan Crop Top

I kinda really need some new tops, some of mine are beginning to look a bit shabby.  The navy blouse is super cute, especially with it’s crocheted yolk.  The breezy, sheer, gathered top would work well with tonnes of items I have, not to mention as a great cover up for the swim suits and I’d love to get a nice basic black crop for a lot of everyday looks.

3rd row left to right

// Classic Straw Boater

// Chic Open-Knit Bowler Hat

I’ve been craving a natural straw boater hat for a few months now, this one is perfect and cheap!  I’m always on the look out for cute bowlers as well, I like this one in straw, so it’s not too hot to wear in the summer heat.

4th row left to right

// Nouveau Deco Bodycon Dress

// Retro Dot Surplice Romper

//Mesh-Trimmed Bodycon Dress

I’ve been aching for the deco & mesh trimmed bodycon dresses for a while now, especially after seeing them both on fellow bloggers.  They’re fabulous for evening occasions & the playsuit is perfect for day!

5th row left to right

// Geo Faux Leather Cuff

// Subtle Geo Midi Rings

// Cutout Crescent Necklace

I love the gold & faux leather cuff, as I generally love geometric patterns, especially in jewelry, but I also already have the matching earrings! I really like the simple shapes on this set of midi rings and that bib necklace is AWESOME!

6th row left to right

// Goddess Cutout Swimsuit

// Polka Dot Bow Shorts

// Midnight Mesh Swimsuit

Last but not least for summer, swimsuits and shorts!!  I am severely lacking in both as of right meow.  I really love all the fatkini’s going around, but for myself, personally, I still like a one piece and these two black numbers are right up my alley!!  They’re both classy, but each have a special feature on each one.  I also like black swimsuits {or darker, solid colours} as they’re a bit mysterious and sexy as well!  And, how CUTE are these shorts?!!  Polka dots…bows…high waisted…I want them so BAD!!!

wishlist // the clutch

One thing about being a fashion or style blogger is you are always looking for the perfect accent to your outfit.  Some sort of punctuation and a clutch can be just that item!

I really love the trend of an over sized clutch lately, but even just a small clutch can compliment an outfit so nicely.  It’s a wonderful statement in taste!

I’ve been finding my clothing choices lately to be very monochrome, which works well, since it seems to be fairly on trend.  But I find myself wanting a little something extra for each look and I think it’s the clutch that’s been missing!

These are a few of my top clutches I’ve seen while online window shopping lately!  (Don’t forget that hologram clutch from last weeks ASOS wishlist as well!!)

1//Patent Leatherette Clutch – Forever 21. Cute and ready for a party & it’s on sale for $13.99!!

2//Nali 3D Stone Clutch Bag – ASOS, I love how bold this bag is! It’s large, bright yellow and studded! Be still, my beating heart!

3//Cutwork Clutch, SimplyBe, I adore the laser cut and the bright pink underlay! I also love that this one comes with a crossbody strap!

4//Vegas Cutout Clutch, Fashion to Figure.  I have been enamored with this bag since GarnerStyle posted it on facebook a couple months ago.  It also comes in a great yellow, but is sadly sold out in that colour right meow.

5//Modernist Faux Leather Clutch, Forever 21. Ultra simple & chic clutch that will work with absolutely any outfit!

6//Elusive Edition Bag, ModCloth.  This novelty clutch has a curious whimsy to it that just draws me in.  Absolutely perfect for witchy days or Harry Potter inspired outfits!!

What kind of bag are you coveting right now?

PS.  If you are wanting to see more of what I’m up to, like what I’m reading or listening to, or more ootd’s, make sure to follow me on instagram & facebook!

I just have to start with saying how ridiculously happy I am to have photoshop back!!  I was reeeeally missing making these wishlists so very much!

I also had the idea to redo my blog space a bit, but had to wait until I had access to photoshop again to do up the changes.  I’m super happy with the results, what do you think?

Secondly, I am LOVING what ASOS has in shop right now!

I’m a complete & total fan of monochrome and I love all the options they have.  I know these looks aren’t 100% monochrome as there is a teeny amount of colour in the holographic clutch and the lining of the Victorian lace blouse, but I think it’s subdued enough to add some fun to an overall monochrome look.

I’ve been loving all the ropers around, but haven’t felt like I’d found the right one for me just yet and I think I have finally landed on it!  I love the buttons and it seems super light and breezy.  How cute would it look with that white blazer??  This look is perfectly edgy, especially adding in the masculine studded shoes.  Though you could femme it up with adding those every so bad ass laser cut  heels.

I’m always on the fence when it comes to very open back dresses, as I absolutely love how they look but am apprehensive of them on myself as I always have to wear a bra, but in the case of this sheer chiffon cage back dress by Truly You, I think the design easily lends itself to be worn with a blatant bra showing ala Carrie Bradshaw.  And look how pretty and flowy it is!! Add some rock in roll sandals and I’m set!

I. Love. This. Skirt!

But I’m also scared of it, because it is white and me and white are often a messy match.  But its so pretty and I am loving the sheer panel.  I’ve been seeing variations of this skirt all over the blogosphere and it just makes me want it more.  It’d be like a test, can be grown up enough to wear this and not spill?  A challenge I am willing to take on!

I think what I love about all the shoes featured, is though they are all fairly different, they could easily go with each outfit and change the feel instantly!

//ASOS CURVE Playsuit With Button Through

// Hologram Foldover Clutch Bag

//ASOS CURVE Blazer With Cropped Lapel And Split Hem

//ASOS MERLIN Studded Monk Shoes

//ASOS CURVE Top In Victoriana Lace

//ASOS CURVE Exclusive Full Midi Skirt With Mesh Panel

//Truly You Cage Back Maxi Dress

//2 Pack Black/Nude Super Skinny Waist And Hip Belt

//River Island Rapper Cross Strap Black Heeled Sandals

//New Look Quantity Laser Cut Heeled Shoes

Modcloth Uniquely You Campaign // The Vivacious & Vibrant Dress in Noir

// Modcloth Uniquely You Campaign // The Vivacious and Vibrant Dress in Noir by margot meanie

Last week I was contacted by Modcloth to participate in their Uniquely You Campaign. Of course I said YES, as I’m a huge fan of Modcloth and adore that they offer stylish clothes to ladies of all sizes!!

This weeks item was the Vivacious and Vibrant Dress in Noir. It’s simple and chic, but has the added detail on the neckline to make it feel like a really special piece.  It come in a variety of colours and comes in sizes small -4X!

Many looks came to mind when I first saw this dress, but ultimately, as day at the track won out!

Seriously, since this dress is so versatile, it’s just a blast to accessorize it!

Let’s start with how amazing this hat is! It’s so chic and perfect for a long day out in the sun. I try to hide from direct sunlight as much as possible and this hat will facilitates in style!

Since the hat is a golden straw, I decided to rock gold and yellow pieces with the rest of the look. This clutch is sooo vintage looking, I’m dying! Add a glint of gold on the wrist, some cute panda earrings (staying in the black, white & gold theme!), big black posh looking sunnies and the amazingly cute yellow wedge heels and this look is out of the gate!!

But since I loved this hat to very much, I did two bonus looks including the hat!

Links to all the pieces featured below!

// modcloth - picnic // by margot meanie

// modcloth - brunch // by margot meanie

Look One:

//Vivacious and Vibrant Dress in Noir

//Make Big Waves Hat (seriously, if someone wants to buy this for me, I’ll love you forever!! )

//Bamboo Brunching Earrings

//Vintage Inspired The Music Seen Sunglasses

//Laud of the Rings Bracelet

//Take it from the Taupe Wedge in Sunshine

//The Finishing Clutch is sadly sold out! But I could easily replace it with the Betsey Johnson Bling Outside the Box clutch

Look Two:

//Make Big Waves Hat

//Pink Martini Naturally Nouveau Dress (this dress only comes in straight sizes, but I was quite smitten with it anyway)

//Every Walking Moment Wedge

//Nautical Bow to Stern Scarf in Mustard Dots

//Sun Savvy Sunglasses

//Show ‘Em What You’re Braid of Bag

//Lime Crime Lipstick in Glamour

Look Three:

//Make Big Waves Hat

//B. Jones Style Skirt ( I have coveted this skirt for a very, very long time!  Someday it shall be mine!)

//The Head and the Art Sunglasses

//Can’t trust Myself Sandal (these come in a really pretty melon colour as well!)

//Summertime Fabness Bag

//Festival Prized Plume Bracelet

I hope you enjoyed these looks!  I had a great time putting them all together over on my polyvore boards!  And thank you to Modcloth, once again for including me in this campaign!!

I seem to be taking my hair style cues from St Vincent lately!  I’m just kind of going with what my hair wants to do and I’m actually digging it for once!!

I just got back from a family vacation to see my younger sister graduate from high school! Honours with distinction to boot, she’s a super smarty pants!  It was really great to see all my family as well.  But boy o’ boy is it awesome to be back in the coastal air, it was so dry back home my skin was NOT happy!

What I wore:

It’s not often I wear pants, so having some statement Beetlejuice pants are a really great thing to have in the back of your wardrobe when the feeling strikes.  I originally purchased them for my Joker costume last Hallowe’en, but I kinda like pulling them out for certain outfits!

I’m also super happy to be sporting TONNES of sparkly bling, nothing like wearing sparkles in the blazing sunshine.  As I write this, I am casting sparkles all over my walls and I’m super pleased!

//sleeveless, hi-lo, drape back blouse – forever 21+ last summer

//black & white striped skinny jeans – forever21+ last fall

//platform wedges – “bamboo” from urbanog

//rhinestone tie necklace – chinatown in vancouver

//rhinestone bird ring – a vendor at the vancouver tattoo show 4 years ago

//lip gloss – rimmel vynil max (this stuff is stiiiicky and a pain in the ass to wear, but it looks damn good for the first few minutes you put it on)

I also received news while I was away that the very lovely Natalie over at Extra Large As Life featured myself, as well as two very stylish gals, Alex from Jet Georgette & Isabel from Dressing Outside The Box!

Thank you so very much, sweetheart!

I don’t seem to have a lot of prints in my wardrobe, but something about this clean lined, chic little number appealed to me.

Since it’s colouring is so soft and girly, I like accessorizing it with harder items, like a black vinyl purse & studded, strappy sandals.

The headband compliments my hair colour so well, I’m super stoked on it! It was a necklace my Mom gave me a few years ago, and as pretty as it was, I found I just wasn’t wearing it, so I turned it into something I will wear on a much more regular basis!

What I wore:

//geometric sakura print dress – dress911

// deco print vinyl purse – torrid (many years old)

// studded sandals – Ardene

// headband – redesigned & crafted by me!

I’m actually thinking of creating & selling more unique/refurbished headbands. What do you think! Any interest?!

I was very fortunate to be the WINNER of The Curvy Elle’s 2nd anniversary giveaway!!

I got all sorts of goodies, including a journal, note cards, a cute “curvy” tote, maybelline mascara & stiletto eyeliner, an eos lip balm (yummy!), a curvy elle tee, a zip pouch (which is already full with all my lipstick!), earrings, sunnies and most important of all, $50 credit to The Curvy Elle store!!

I had a lot of fun picking out my items and settled on two red items which is very unlike me!  I came away with a goooorgeous deep red velvet midi skirt (with pockets!!) and an bright red, ultra sheer, flowy, vintage crop blouse!

what I wore:

I’m still trying to find just the right thing to wear with the blouse, it’s so perfect for summer, so I’m thinking highwaisted shorts will be the winner if I can find them.

The velvet skirt takes the cake, it’s just heaven.  It’s a slightly heavier weight, so I may not get tonnes of wear out of it right away, but this baby will be perfect for fall/winter/spring.  It’s so soft and lux, I really can’t get over how much I love it!

I’m planning on heading back to Hastings racetrack this Saturday for the second event of the Triple Crown, The Preakness, which I think is my favourite name of all the horse races.

I’m not a gambler in anyway, I get far too stressed out!  Even if someone bets on a horse that I said I thought looked pretty or has a cool name (seriously, who ever started naming horses crazy things is a genius!). I just generally just enjoy the day out and excuse to dress up.

What I wore:

I really love this Windy City dress from Modcloth.  My only bummer is, even though I measured everything multiple times before ordering, the bust was still waaaay too small for me.  I was really disappointed (as you can tell, I am super busty!), until I realised I am one crafty bugger, so I cut the lining out of the front bodice panel.  Since it is all gathered on the front, there was plenty of room after I removed it!

It’s sheer now, but a with a black bra, I think it still looks wicked!

v 1.0

//Windy City dress – Modcloth

//gold glitter platform heels – Payless Shoesource

//gold head chain – forever21

//multi strand gold plated necklace – thrifted

v 2.0

//gold and enamel brooch – thrifted

//Liza suede and leather boots – DUO boots (they specialize in all size of foot and calf widths)

//black cap gloves – vintage (awesome x-mas gift from my Mom, a box FULL of vintage gloves!)

//wide brim hat – Forever 21 (the band had pyramid studs)

My body mod jewelry & makeup

//opal flat disc medusa labret – Industrial Strength

//00g gold tunnels with green encased rhinestones – Wild Cat (seriously, having them incased is the best, no loose or lost stones anymore!)

//lipstick – Lime Crime Red Velvet

So, which look should I go for? V 1.0 or V 2.0??
