From Domino Dollhouse:

For our Winter 2014 collection, we wanted to focus on 2 things: fashion and wearability. Inspired by movies like
Bladerunner and Tron, we wanted to offer something the plus size community had never seen before. For our
Science/Visions collection, we are offering a taste of everyday luxury in a way that is anything but basic. We
focused on luscious, soft stretch jerseys and added edge-y accents, such as faux stretch suede and perforated
pleather. These pieces are perfect for everyday wear…the ultimate in cool comfort. This entire collection was
Made in the USA by a plus size woman-owned factory and the quality is superb. The Science/Visions pieces are
available in sizes 1X-4X and range from $35-140. The collection will be launched on 11.14.14.

What do you guys think??  I absolutely adore the palette and the textures look lux and edgy!  I’d love to get my hands on a few pieces, specifically the moon leggings, that silky looking purpley grey crop tee, the geometric print maxi set and that jacket with the perforated faux leather!

As I said… I swoon!

#alternativecurves // snow white

My beloved #alternativecurves is finally a blog hop thanks to the work and tenacity of the lovely Kobi Jae!

She believed in this little movement/community and wanted to push it past just being a hashtag. I thank her for the push as it had motivated me to start the instagram group, @alternativecurves, where I get to showcase and the feature fierce style of a myriad of altcurve babes in all their edgy, spooky, quirky, sassy glory!

Kobi wanted to expand the idea into the blogosphere. So we divided and are now concurring!! She runs the blog hop, I run the instagram, it’s perfectly ideal!

Which brings us to the blog hop. We announced on various social medias this was finally happening and after inviting an initial few to the group to feel out ideas on themes etc, we opened it up for new members to join and join they did!!  We got a CRAZY response and our little group turned into over 30 rad gals almost overnight!!

We will be posting sometime during the first week of every month our interpretation of that months theme. Our very first theme for the month of October is “alternative fairytale”

So far the first few postings have knocked it out of the park!! Mine is not as impressive, but here is my alternative take on Snow White….

I’m wearing a fantastic blue lace overlay, button up frock I bought from ASOS about a year and half ago {similar, similar}.  My bright red belt is from Forever21+, as are the yellow socks, which were once tights {I turned them into tall socks for this shoot for Love This Sunday},  my lips are Red Velvet by LimeCrime and the shoes are actually costume shoes!!

I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of the hoppers!

It seems the rainy season is taking it’s grasp here in Vancouver.  I’ve lost my light, which sounds so dramatic, but really it’s just that I’ve had no luck taking indoor photos as I really rely on the afternoon light that fills half my home.

Luckily it was a clear, sunny and gorgeous day to take a ferry across to visit some friends on Vancouver Island.  With the sun out and a beautiful nautical backdrop I wrangled my husband into taking photos of me {which really isn’t much of a wrangle, he’s pretty keen on helping me out for photos}.

So this is what I wore for my ferry ride!  I’ve been meaning to get a photo of this dress from ASOS for over 2 weeks now.  Damn you grey skies!  Don’t get me wrong, I love the rain, I’m just annoyed that it’s getting in the way of me being able to grab my own shots at home which can prove to be even more problematic during the very dreary Vancouver winter I’m looking ahead to.  But it worked out for the best as this is a lovely location and is a refreshing change to have some outdoor photos!

Back to this dress, ASOS CURVE Cami Dress With Lace Trim  it’s still available online and it’s on a crazy clearance deal, only $34 cdn!!  I ordered this in a UK 24, I was about to get a 22 but last minute changed my mind and I’m happy I did.

I adore how this fits.

You know how sometimes you put an item on and you just feel right?? That happened immediately in this! I felt so sexy and stylish.  It’s just enough of a flapper feel for me, but remaining completely in the modern era.

I will get a TON of wear out of this dress!

I paired this with my New Look Inspire waterfall faux leather jacket that I got last year, {similar} to keep it edgy and to keep any fall chill at bay!

In other news, tomorrow is my 1 year blogaversary!!  I’ll have a little write up of my feelings on the last year I’ve spent blogging!

The Design Collective For Evans @ London Fashion Week

I’ve been green with envy watching so many bloggers enjoy both New York Fashion Week and now London Fashion Week, but I have no right to be as I was granted an All Access media pass to Vancouver’s Fashion Week which is going on right now!!

I’ve been unable to attend any shows yet, but I’m hoping to pop into a quick one tonight right before I head to see LA Roux in concert {it’s been a good week, as I just won tickets to see her!} and then Friday night as well as Sunday night look like they will be fun to see!

The only thing is, there does not seem to be any plus size fashion showing in my neck of the woods.  But that’s where it gets exciting.  I’ve seen snippets here and there on instagram of the Evans show in London and I was really happy to watch the full show last night as it’s been uploaded to youtube, so I’m going to share that here with you guys!!

Watch this video and follow my favourite looks in the description below!

My personal favourites being:

Look 2, which is an amazing print and makes her bum look delicious, look 4 which is edgy and flowy and sheer, a trifecta for me! Seems like there is a designer changes as things get a modern/vintage twist.  Look 9 is making me truly feel contemporary flapper it definitely giving a nod to the era, but remaining truthful to the current fashion.  I appreciated the vintage Hollywood glam in looks 12 & 14, though I wouldn’t personally wear either, they are lovely and I love the fabrics used in both.  Look 15 continues with the vintage Hollywood glam and let me just say, I wish I had events to wear this amazing green dress to!! The structure & colour are to die for!!

The show takes another turn at this point {change of designer again?}, but just sign me up for that black button up dress already! I want it, gimme gimme!! {and c’mon, those visors are kinda amazeballs!}  I’ll also gladly take the sheer striped dress which, I believe, is look 17 {? I’m losing track} I have a similar waterfall pleather jacket that I purchased from ASOS last year {I believe it’s a New Look design} that would recreate the look perfectly! Look 18 is simple with nice detailing on the crisscross straps, I think it would fit in nicely to anyone’s closet.

Now I’ve completely lost track of numbers, but the asymmetrical periwinkle chiffon dress paired with that extra long gauzy cardigan just makes me dream of white sandy beaches, I’m down.  Why, hello there hi/low sheer peplum top, can we be friends now??  I kinda love that laser cut silver pencil skirt and I’d totally style it with the just mentioned sheer peplum!  I’m feeling that pleated midi skirt, it’d be a lot of fun in the summer, though, it could be fun in the winter too, all shimmering & icy!  I can picture it ice skating, you know, if I ice skated.

And then, there it is, the item I have been looking forward to with bated breathe.  I had only seen ever it so briefly on instagram, the sheer holographic dress!  I want it, like,  yesterday!! I was dying to really see that amazing sheer holographic dress!! I’m completely smitten!  I want to wear it with Chromat or Zana  Bayne or Teale Coco harness’s and accessories!! {which all brands cater to all body sizes!}

What do you think, what were your favourite looks?

Love This Sunday // alternative plus size fashion

Love This Sunday // margot meanie

Love This Sunday // margot meanie

I often wear a lot of black, so much so, that I even made it my blogs tagline.  But that doesn’t stop me from still being playful with colour!  I do love surprising people with wearing tons of cute colours paired with sweet accessories and bright make-up. {though I did still manage to pack a lot of black in this outfit anyway!}

This week I’m wearing a cheeky jelly bean swimsuit gifted from Love This Sunday.  They are a kitschy fun swimwear company that just recently expanded their sizing up to a 3x!!!

To celebrate the new size range, they invited me to pick one of their suits and style it in my own way that could be worn year round.

Now, they have some freakin’ CUTE prints which made it hard to pick; french fries, hamburgers, breakfast food bikini’ die for!! But when my eye rested on the Jelly Bean one piece I was purely smitten!

Love This Sunday // margot meanie

Love This Sunday // margot meanie

I was super impressed with the colour and quality of material when I first opened my parcel, but then a little concerned that perhaps the print on the suit would look broken or washed out once it was on me.  Happily, it didn’t it held up beautifully and vibrantly!  I ordered the 3x and it fits quite nice, but I am a very busty gal and it sits a wee low on the décolletage, so I plan to wear a bright coloured bandeau when I go swimming in it.  I really love the low scoop on the back as well!

I’m very happy with this swimsuit and super stoked to jump in my friends pool with it on!

Things to keep in mind:

I ordered the 3x, I am an 18/20 US and it just fits me.  It’s not going to fit on much larger bodies sadly though if you are smaller in the bust it should work if you’re a size larger. Hopefully these will be a wild success and maybe  they’ll include more sizes again!! It does not have any support for the girls, so if you are larger busted, you may need to wear a bra or add a bandeau for modesty or comfort.

But I must say it again, the print is the CUTEST and the quality is aces!!  I love this suit and I Love This Sunday! <3

what I wore:

//sheer black blouse – Ross {in Las Vegas}

//bandage skirt – Torrid {several years old, but it still holds up!}

//yellow over the knee socks – forever21+{they were opaque tights that I cut into socks! }

//pink velvetine lipstick - Lime Crime

//yellow & lime green eye shadows and Gir necklace – Hot Topic

//hot pink & silver T-strap flats – Buffalo Exchange {Portland}

//meringue earrings – Insanely Sweet Jewelry on etsy {these wear my wedding earrings!!}

//Jelly Bean one piece – c/o Love This Sunday

These are the last outfit photos I took before I dyed my hair blue!

This was for a date day I had during my anniversary week off.  We went for tea and to stock up on our favourite cream earl grey, as well as for ice cream and the items for a Parisien picnic.  I meant to get photos of it all, but we were having fun and it was blisteringly hot out so I completely forgot to document the rest of the day.  Though I did post a photo on instagram of the picnic, which ended up being inside our shady place as opposed to the garden, which was just far too warm.

what i wore:

//pyramid studded top – forever21+ last fall {similar} {similar}

//rev velvet midi skirt – The Curvy Elle vintage shop, {similar} {similar}

//sandals – ModCloth

july wishlist // forever21+

forever 21+ wishlist // margot meanie

This wishlist is a BIG one!!  Since I’m not currently working, my spending budget has been nil and it’s kind of been killing me a little bit.   This is generally a time of year that I’m refreshing my summer wardrobe and bringing in some sorely needed new pieces {like swimsuits!!} but alas, I am stuck drooling at the {online} window.

If I had money right now, these would all be one their way to me already!

top row left to right

// Heart-Shaped Sunglasses

// Retro Cat-Eye Sunglasses

// F2009 Half-Frame Sunglasses

I have a thing for sunnies and I especially have a thing for cat eye & heart shaped sunnies!  I like to keep a collection as they all work so wonderfully with different outfits and I find they can really change the tone of a look.

2nd row left to right

// Poetic Dream Crochet Blouse

// Dynamite Sheer Gathered Top

// Raglan Crop Top

I kinda really need some new tops, some of mine are beginning to look a bit shabby.  The navy blouse is super cute, especially with it’s crocheted yolk.  The breezy, sheer, gathered top would work well with tonnes of items I have, not to mention as a great cover up for the swim suits and I’d love to get a nice basic black crop for a lot of everyday looks.

3rd row left to right

// Classic Straw Boater

// Chic Open-Knit Bowler Hat

I’ve been craving a natural straw boater hat for a few months now, this one is perfect and cheap!  I’m always on the look out for cute bowlers as well, I like this one in straw, so it’s not too hot to wear in the summer heat.

4th row left to right

// Nouveau Deco Bodycon Dress

// Retro Dot Surplice Romper

//Mesh-Trimmed Bodycon Dress

I’ve been aching for the deco & mesh trimmed bodycon dresses for a while now, especially after seeing them both on fellow bloggers.  They’re fabulous for evening occasions & the playsuit is perfect for day!

5th row left to right

// Geo Faux Leather Cuff

// Subtle Geo Midi Rings

// Cutout Crescent Necklace

I love the gold & faux leather cuff, as I generally love geometric patterns, especially in jewelry, but I also already have the matching earrings! I really like the simple shapes on this set of midi rings and that bib necklace is AWESOME!

6th row left to right

// Goddess Cutout Swimsuit

// Polka Dot Bow Shorts

// Midnight Mesh Swimsuit

Last but not least for summer, swimsuits and shorts!!  I am severely lacking in both as of right meow.  I really love all the fatkini’s going around, but for myself, personally, I still like a one piece and these two black numbers are right up my alley!!  They’re both classy, but each have a special feature on each one.  I also like black swimsuits {or darker, solid colours} as they’re a bit mysterious and sexy as well!  And, how CUTE are these shorts?!!  Polka dots…bows…high waisted…I want them so BAD!!!
