+ Outfit | Hello October

Ok, its seeming abundantly clear that October and Halloween time is not just MY fav time of the year, but a large portion of yours as well! Thank you so so so much for all the love on my Halloween Shopping Guides I had up earlier this week. I had the most fun putting them together! Today I’m sharing a fun outfit I got the chance to put together thanks to a baby new brand that just launched, Jessica Neomi! They got in contact a few months back asking if I’d be down to try out a few pieces from the line and sent me the spec sheet with sample pics. My eyes were instantly drawn to the black fuzzy rock start of a jacket and I knew I’d be asking for it immediately!

But before I closed the window to reply “YES! PLEASE LET ME HAVE THAT COAT!!” I figured I should take a good look at everything else on offer and found there to be some really good sturdy basics with a posh twist. I have to constantly remind myself to look at basics and things I actually need when I’m offered to review items and I was happy this round to indulge in something completely impractical : the rock star jacket. And pick out something 100% practical: the cigarette pants.

Now, I gotta say, ever since I saw Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face, I have always loved and adored a cigarette pant. I love seeing ankles, I may be a weirdo, but I find them elegant. { see, total weirdo! } So I was happy to try them out as well.

Since I figured it was October and time to celebrate my fav holiday, I put a spoopy spin on everything. I’m a sucker for a theme!

I paired my Faux Fur Bomber and Cigarette Pants with my Witch Worldwide “Goth Spice” crop and some wicked heels I scored at a thrift store. I put on my most low key, minimalist cat ears { yes, I have enough pairs of cat ears that I can choose the right ones to make the correct statement in an outfit }, nabbed a cheapo kitty collar from the dollar store and some skeleton dangle earrings Then I made the hubster get me a plastic Trick-or-Treat pumpkin and maybe a chocolate bar to put in it… you know, for accessories sake! 😉

I can say right now, this jacket will be making MANY appearances in the future.

Notes on fit: I chose a size 3 in each garment and am mostly happy with the fit. My only issues what the length, I’m 5’5″ so not exactly petite, I sit low on the scale of average, but I’m not as short as I complain about sometimes { I see your struggle petite babes! }. I found both of my items perfectly fit in width, but when it came to length, I was swimming. For the jacket, it means the arms are quite long, but not unbearable so. The extra length lends more luxurious rock star flare, but if you arms are shorts, you’ll be fishing your hands out from layers of faux fur! This jacket has a single bra style hook clasp right at the top. I think I might add a few more so I can do it up all the way when it gets chilly.

Now a cigarette pant, as mentioned above, should graze just above the ankle, you’ll see that mine do in the photos, but that is because I tailored them to fit so. I’m almost curious if I got sent the wrong pants, and maybe I got the Executive pant instead. I had to take them in along the sides for the correct taper and remove about 3.5 inches from the length. I absolutely LOVE the high waist and the extra wide elastic band, and the front seam is so darn cute!

Now, I don’t want anyone to panic about having to get things tailored. One lessons I still hold on to from my old “what not to wear” obsession is this; Off the rack does not mean it’s going to fit properly. That is not your fault, it is the garments fault. Clothing is made for a generic form, you are unique, we are ALL unique. There is never shame in getting something tailored to fit you perfectly. Now, I can’t afford to take things in to the tailor, but I am fortunate enough to own a sewing machine and a basic knowledge on how to use it. If you have any creative or crafty fibre in your being, I recommend the same for you, it will change your life and your wardrobe! I fiddle with at least 60% of my clothes to make myself happier.

Have you heard of Jessica Neomi yet? They are brand spankin’ new, but off to a running start!
