Friday Favs #8

What’s up, buttercups? How has your week been? This week has been flippin GORGEOUS here! It’s basically been full blown summer for a couple weeks, which is lovely, but also making me a little nervous for how hot this summer is going to get.  Which then makes me nervous about forest fires and campfire bans for kind of selfish reasons since I’m going camping next month and we have all our fingers and toes crossed that we finally get to have a camp fire this year. Each year we go the fire ban takes effect a day or two before we head out, so we keep moving our trip forward every year. Buuuut, if it means not burning down the province than we’ll deal, just like every other year.

This week we got our tax return back and we’ve been on a little spending spree. We got ourselves a new tent, it’s HUGE! We sold our old one last year, it was a four person tent, but only in the sense that you could squish 4 adults head to toe and junk to junk. We were sick of not being able to stand up in our tent and I really need to be able to stand up in the tent to be able to wiggle in and out of swim suits. So we got a 10 person tent, it’s massive and may be slightly excessive, but it was on sale cheaper that the 6 and 8 person tents. So I’m gonna glamp it up! I’m super stoked and my mind has been going overdrive with playful ideas!

I also finally picked out and bought myself a real camera! I borrowed a camera from my friend a few months back, but she needed it back and I’ve been working with my ipad again which is getting old and the camera is not up to snuff. I had my eye on this sexy little number, the Pentax Q-S1 in champagne gold but I really wanted to hold one and try it out a bit and no one in town had one. I went a tried a few out, but was really underwhelmed with what was available in the shops I checked out. So I went home and started doing some real research into what I wanted and how it stacked up against any others. What I found was the Panasonic Lumix GF7. After comparing it on this cool site to the other 3 I was checking out, it slayed all the others BIG TIME! AND it was on sale! I know I still  didn’t get to hold it in my hands, but it had all the featured I was most keen on, then some, like a tilt screen display for selfie mode and wifi to talk with my ipad for easy posting and editing! I am over the moon, I’ve been shopping for a camera for almost two years now! YAY!

Anyhoo, enough about me, here’s what I thought was pretty cool this week!

This weeks favs:

My fav etsy brand of late has been Cat Coven { big surprise with a name like that! } they have a wicked selection of enamel pins, back patches, housewares and tees, which go up to a XXL. I’m hoping someday they expand that range, but at least the XXL comes in both womens and men’s sizes so the mens XXL may accommodate a little more, especially if you like to cut up shirts like I do. Here’s a few of my most coveted pieces by Cat Coven, though a few of these have been featured before, I’m still swooning over them!

This is one of the prettiest pieces of jewelry I have ever seen. Omnia Studios always kills it, someday, when I can afford all the jewelry I lust over, Omnia will be one of my first spending sprees!

  • Have you been listening to The Bodcast by Marie Southard-Ospina & Bustle? I just started this week.. It. Is. GREAT!
  • Are you interested in getting into Plus Size fashion, like the nitty gritty? Like making and designing clothes? Because fashion guru Jen Wilder is to the rescue! If you are in the LA area you can go attend a series of plus size fashion workshops where she is going to teach the basics from pattern making, fabric sourcing and how to start designing your own clothes and maybe even starting your own line! And if you are remote, like me, she’s planning on recording each workshop and making them available to watch online!
  • This is one of my dream situations, though in my dream, I own all the places, but this is a start to living around the globe!
  • My pal Carmen is participating in balding for dollars which supports BC children’s hospital and helps kids and their families that are going through the rigors of cancer treatment. If you have a couple bucks to spare for a great cause she would greatly appreciate it!
  • Are you daring enough?
  • Have you checked out my personal shopping service yet? You can hire me as your own online personal shopper for as little as $20 with access to your items whenever you feel like shopping!
